From Ross and rachel to morticia and gomez, there are endless iconic couples to take inspiration from for your next halloween with your beau. some can even be recreated with out breaking the bank! the following are 5 couples costumes created on a budget, worn by my husband and myself.

velma & shaggy
how to make it budget friendly
Velma and shaggy are an example of great character design because it does not take a lot to recognize them
For this costume we used a green shirt and khakis already hanging in our closet for shaggy.
at the time i had no orange or red in my wadrobe, so we went shopping and got the first orange top and red bottoms we could find!
the look was finalized with a cheap magnifying glass.

jack o’ latern
how to make it budget friendly
want photos of yourslf with a jack o’latern head but don’t want the get pumpkin guts on your face? Ya, me too!
this costume can be recreated with packing paper, paper mache plaster(or school glue mixed with water and flour), spare fabric, cheap paint, and a LOT of patience.

beetlejuice & lydia
how to make it budget friendly
beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetle – ah never mind.
the man, the myth, the legend himself was recreated thrifiting a suit, then mixing cheap acrylic paint with fabric softener to paint the iconic white stripes.
lydia on the other hand is made of a red t-shirt, and several yards of red fabric. The veil and some embellishments are made of tulle and the skirt is made of craft fabric.

RON STOPPABLE & KIM POSSIBLE
how to make it budget friendly
much like members of the mystery gang, this crime fighting duo are easily identifiable by their colors.
A couple of black long sleeves, cargo pants, and a few minutes in the hair color change feature in a photo editing app and bam – i mean – buh buh budum – kim possible and ron stoppable.

ANNABETH CHASE & PERCY JACKSON
how to make it budget friendly
as a true zillenials, i was obsessed with the percy jackson series for most of my life. so much so that when i got a cricut, one of my first project was making myself a camp half blood sweatshirt.
any outfit can turn into a camp half-blood cosplay with a camp logo iron on and any orange top. don’t have a cricut to make an iron on? a bottle of fabric paint and a bucket of patience will also do the trick

ZOMBIE TOURIST
how to make it budget friendly
any outfit is a touristy outfit if you look slack jawed and wide eyed enough
for our first halloween together we threw on clothes with floral patterns and grabbed camera carrying cases to strap around our necks.
the look was finalized with a dab of halloween face paint to sell us as undead.

plagues doctors
how to make it budget friendly
nothing makes for an affordable costume like buying a cheap costume. the biggest key to a budget friendly costume is shopping the cosumte aisles the weeks after halloween.
for mr plague doctor, we found a brand new costume 2 weeks after halloween for 90% off. mrs plague doctor was pieced together from closet staples and what was left over at the grocery story costume aisle the days before thanksgiving.
